Go Green! Go Indie! Earth Day in A Bookstore!

From the start in 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated, teaching ways to go green and save the environment. Now, Pipe & Thimble is taking it a step further by inviting you to an Earth Day event right here in their store!
* Explore a number of books to help get you excited and learn more about how you can go green and appreciate the Earth we live on!
* Meet the authors who penned these books and learn how they go green!
* Find and follow all the "Hey, did you knows" about how Pipe & Thimble and their artisans re-use, reduce, and recycle in their handmade treasures/products and their day to day lives!
* Take a self-guided tour of the Pipe & Thimble Garden to learn how you can make your own garden more environmentally and critter friendly!
* Play garden bingo and win a prize!
* Take a guided tour of Monarch Mansion where Barbara Lieberman, author of Ben's Little Acorn and The Unchained Spirit, and Robin Nieto, co-author of The Tales of Mema's Garden series and photographer, raise and save monarch butterflies! (Guided tours start at 12pm and 2pm)!
* Make-and-take milkweed Seed Bombs, because, as is said in Tales From Mema's Garden: Monarch Butterflies, "As long as we have milkweed, we will have monarch butterflies."

Once upon a time, there were two indie authors with a dream. They set out on an adventure to create a community and bring forth those voices that are so essential, but so often unheard. They welcomed wordsmiths, musicians, artists, and artisans to their shelves, all indie. One year ago, they opened their doors to the little friendly city, known as Lomita, and took Socal and the internet by storm! And, in return, they have grown with an influx of love and support from all the communities they worked with! Now, as a thank you, they invite everyone to come and celebrate their one year anniversary!

Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, a book that had a huge impact on the environmentalist movement, was published in 1962. Along with awakening and acting upon environmental conciousness, the 60's were notable for their social movements. Now, combining Pipe & Thimble's rebellious nature with a love of gardening, we're welcoming you to our sit in, where we're celebrating all things 60's and discussing how to continue such a powerful and important movement, including:
* Costume Contest
* Author meet and greet
* DIY Guerilla Gardening Seed Bombs
* Plant Sale
* Guided Tours of Monarch Mansion (12pm and 2pm)
* Self Tour of the Garden with facts about the 1960s!
